And just like that, 2025 has come to an end — what a year it has been at Longwood! This Longwood end of year blog reflects on twelve months of growth, connection, and community involvement. From welcoming new board members to creating an accessible sensory trail, 2025 was full of exciting moments.
Welcoming New Leadership and Trails
This year, the directors welcomed two new members to the board. Their addition brought fresh ideas and energy to guide the future of the woods.
In addition, one of our proudest achievements was the new accessible sensory trail. It allows visitors of all abilities to enjoy nature in a calm and engaging way.

Community Events and Visitors
We also welcomed many new faces to the woods.
For example, local family centres visited, the fantastic equestrian event brought crowds, and newcomers explored the woods near their homes. As a result, it was wonderful to see Longwood buzzing with life.
Moreover, we even took part in this year’s Children in Need special episode of Weatherman Walking — a real highlight that showcased Longwood to a wider audience.

Looking Ahead: Volunteers and Your Voice
Looking ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year. Our volunteer programme returns on 13 January. Through this programme, the community can get involved, help care for the woods, and have a say in its future. Find out more and sign up here.
Additionally, we want your input! Our survey about the future of Longwood is still open. Share your thoughts here. Your feedback will help shape plans for 2026 and beyond.

Thank You for a Wonderful Year
As we move into 2026, we do so with gratitude and optimism. The sense of connection and shared care that shaped 2025 will guide Longwood into the future.
Finally, thank you to everyone who visited, supported, and volunteered. We look forward to welcoming you back to the woods in the year ahead.
