At Longwood Community Woodland, we’re passionate about creating a welcoming space where people, wildlife, and nature can flourish together. From maintaining trails to running community projects, every step we take is about ensuring this woodland continues to be a place that brings joy, peace, and opportunity to all who visit. None of this would be possible without the generous support of grants, which provide vital funding for projects both big and small.

Grants: More Than Just Funding

Grants are more than financial support—they’re an investment in community wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and local heritage. For us, they enable important improvements that would otherwise be out of reach. Whether it’s restoring footpaths, creating educational activities for schools, or improving accessibility, grants help us turn ideas into reality.

A New Website, Thanks to Grant Funding

A great example of this is our brand-new website. We wanted a site that better reflects the vibrancy of Longwood, makes it easier for visitors to plan their trips, and highlights the many ways people can get involved. Thanks to grant funding, we were able to design and launch a fresh, user-friendly platform that showcases everything from upcoming events to volunteer opportunities. It’s already making a real difference by helping us connect with more people and share the woodland’s story more widely.

We’re proud to say that this project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administrated and supported by the Cynnal y Cardi Team for Ceredigion County Council. Their support was key in making the new design a reality, and we’re incredibly grateful for the encouragement and belief they’ve shown in our work.

The Wider Impact of Grants

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund exists to strengthen communities, foster local pride, and support growth by investing in projects just like ours. At Longwood, this means we can continue to expand what we offer while protecting and enhancing the woodland for future generations.

Of course, grants don’t just benefit Longwood. They benefit everyone who comes here to enjoy a walk, learn about wildlife, or simply find a quiet moment among the trees. They support families looking for free days out, schools seeking outdoor learning opportunities, and volunteers who want to give back to their community. Every grant helps us to keep the woodland alive with activity, possibility, and joy.

Thank You for Your Support

We know that behind every funding award there are people—teams who listen, advise, and champion the work of local organisations. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cynnal y Cardi, Ceredigion County Council, and the wider UK Government initiative that makes funding like this available.

As Longwood Community Woodland continues to grow, we remain committed to working in partnership, embracing opportunities, and ensuring this space is here for all to enjoy. Grants help us do this, and for that, we’re truly grateful.
