At Longwood Community Woodland, we believe learning by doing is the best way to care for our woodland. This also helps protect biodiversity. This week, our Biodiversity and Engagement Officer, Beth, took part in a chainsaw training and tree felling course. She added valuable skills for woodland management.

While Beth was away, we welcomed Chris from Arbresponse to Longwood Community Woodland. Chris ran hands-on chainsaw training sessions for our team. He taught:

  • How to maintain a chainsaw correctly

  • How to use a chainsaw safely

  • How to fell small trees efficiently

  • How to process timber ready for safe movement

It was inspiring to see everyone come together. They learned technical skills and the importance of working safely. These sessions build a community of woodland stewards who care for the land.

Why Chainsaw Training and Tree Felling Matter

Chainsaw training is not just about mastering a tool. It builds confidence, protects the environment, and supports sustainable woodland management. At Longwood Community Woodland, we are proud to invest in skills that keep people and woodlands safe for the future.
