At the core of our project is our new Visitor Centre building in the Allt Cefn Foel car park. The exciting thing about this build is that it is constructed almost completely from timber sourced from Long Wood itself, a first of its kind in Ceredigion.
The frame is constructed using roundwood larch and the hand hewn joints are oak pegged. The walls are made of straw bales, covered with hempcrete, giving the building a high insulation rating.
Welcoming, attractive and a focus for visitors to Long Wood the additional seating, lighting and provision of compost toiletsprovides facilities, especially for those with small children.
The building incorporates vital office space for employees providing a work base. Staff are able to welcome and interact with users of the woodland and to identify potential conflicts, acting swiftly to overcome them.
